Well, 20+ years in the industry I am saying the food is a 4 out of 5 some would argue a 3. But it's Texas bbq of course the competition is fierce but it's good or At least my experience. Service was fantastic. I got greeted when I came in.. they have a kiosk but the young woman was more than happy to take my order. She explained specials and was knowledgeable about other questions I had. . It was nice not seeing a tip options when I paid out but i would have cause the service was great. They were out of sausage for my sandwich order but was offered more Turkey, I requested brisket and the request was fulfilled without further monetary obligation which was amazing. Not sure who's hiring but these employees are absolutely wonderful........ Tip jar?????

The brisket here is delicious. I used to have to drive to Terry Black's BBQ in South Austin to get brisket this good. Now, I have a great BBQ place close to home. I've been getting lunch here on a regular basis. Some days are better than others, but the consistency has been good, and I haven't been disappointed.

We had lunch at the new H-E-B location and tried True Texas BBQ for the first time—it did not disappoint! We ordered the two-meat plate with fatty brisket, turkey, mac and cheese, and fried okra, along with a sliced brisket sandwich and a side of potato salad. Everything was absolutely delicious. The brisket and turkey were incredibly moist, and the fried okra was a standout—definitely a must-try. Everything tasted fresh, and our order was ready in no time.

Coming into this experience, I wasn't quite sure if I was expecting a top quality cook of the products in this store. I knew that everything provided in the store was HEB branded items, but was the food cooked by pitmasters or HEB employees? First thing we notice with our experience was at the kiosk for the sandwich that I was going to order. It stated that it was 3/4 of a pound. This was in the description. It was on the menu. When I got to the counter I noticed that the counter had a different weight of a half pound. Because of this discrepancy, I chose to order with the live CSR instead of using the kiosk because I had questions. The csr said that the food is supposed to be a half pound and so that the menu was incorrect. I asked him if they were going to honor the 3/4 lb menued and they said that they would not which is fine. Just wanted to see you if they would honor what is advertised for everybody within kiosk system. The reason why this is important is because if everybody ordered some the kiosk and thinks they get 3/4 of a pound and only get a half pound that's deceptive. Ordered our food and we went ahead explained. We would like the dessert to come after the meal and that please not bring it out. We go to our table and wait. The first thing that comes out is all of our food including our dessert. I asked nicely for the CSR to take the dessert back and they did as I told him I would receive it later. Let's talk about the food, on a scale of 1 to 10 I would say this is a between a three to six range. It's not as bad as Rudy's but it's right around that benchmark of fast food BBQ. Nothing really had any true flavor baked in so everything is really safe. You would have to put your sauce on it to get the flavors popping. Everything was pretty much what I expected for a fast food Barbecue. I wish it would have been a little bit more transparency on the portions and pricing and I wish there would have been a more flavoring to the food. Plus that is everything is ATV brand items so we know where it comes from.

Hands down the best collard greens I have had in a while! The brisket El Jefe sandwich is HUMONGOUS! Super delicious! Be prepared to share!! Also I’d like to recognize Diana she is absolutely amazing; her customer service is very rare to find! She’s very generous and bubbly! I remember coming a few weeks back when they had a special of free cookies when you buy 2/3 meat plates and she was on point!! She definitely needs a raise and be recognized!! We will be back soon ! Thanks you Diana!!:)

We came on a Sunday, early afternoon. HEB was packed but restaurant wasn't too bad. It has a kiosk at the entrance to order, with 2 or 3 at the counter, and then, you have an option to order with a person, if needed. There is also drive thru but other reviews make it seem like it's faster to just to come in. Pricing overall is pretty standard to bbq, on the expensive side. But, the food was really good for HEB. Items can sell out so get there early. We got 2, 2 meat plates. One plate had smoked turkey with sausage, portions were so small! I know every thing with bbq is weighed so I get it but was disappointed, delicious though. However, for sides, we had brisket beans, and potato salad, were awesome. Then, we had the second meat plat with brisket and ribs, so good! The portions were perfect for this plate. The sides for that plate were mac and cheese and banana pudding. Flavor for every dish, side and dessert were on point. I would definitely return and recommend as a great bbq spot.
